I save that technique to fix those pesky intermittent problems, especially when the card is under warranty.

Why wouldn't they be. Ya think mice got in there all of a sudden one night? Besides, this guy is not about to open anything up.

We have suggested in previous posts relating to this system that he contact a dealer in his area.

This isn't the first nor will it be the last problem he is going to have. Simple things the end user can do, but beyond that you need to have a relationship with a local dealer who can take care of problems that are beyond the user level.

One thing I haven't seen suggested is to do a system reset programsaved after replacing the batt. i have seen this happen before on new units and the system reset does the trick. Just a tought.

Worth a try though I haven't seen it. Make sure you do #728, don't pull the plug.

If I remember, the previous problem with this system was that it lost it's programming, probably during a power outage. That would certainly happen if the backup batteries were not working but there would be a message to that effect as you have now.

It would be a simple matter for a tech to evaluate the situation and advise.

I agree, I have only seen it happen a couple times on new systems (may twice in all the systems I have installed)and they were both R7's. Never seen it happen on a R5. But it's worth a try.

Yes, the R7's are plagued by many bugs.

I had a R.7 do me that way last week.

Installed the sytem on Saturday. After installing the system I did a back up to the internal memory.

Then the following Thursday the customer had a power outage that lasted longer than their UPS and the system went back to defaults when the power came back up. So I talked them through a restore.

Do you think I need to get a replacement R.7? While it is still under warranty

This makes like the 2nd one I have had do this in less than a year.
