I have a customer with an ACS R6 that will be adding a PRI with DIDs soon. I have never configured a PRI on an ACS so I have a question about the receptionist position (a 34D). When a call comes in on xxx-8441 (main number) the call is to be answered by the operator. All DIDs will be mapped to appropriate ext, which I have no problem with configuring that. The T1 configuration section of the ACS PC Admin has a field where you specify the "DID Backup". This will be ext. 10.
What happens when the operator has more than one call coming in? Do I have to configure buttons with more than one "line appearance"? They don't want the auto-attendant to answer during the day hours, so overflow to the AA is not acceptable.
I asked this question to TouchTone Tommy offline but he has never done a Parter with a PRI either. Hope someone else can help.
Thanks, Bill

Partner ACS does NOT support ISDN-PRI circuits. Either change the circuit type or buy an intermediary piece of equipment (Such as Adtran Atlas 550) to convert it to T1. Or replace Partner with some other product, such as Magix (allowing you to re-use telephones).
I'd be shocked if TouchTone Tommy didn't tell you the same thing...

mforrence - thanks for the reply. Tommy did make the following statement in his email - "Remember that it's NOT a PRI, may want to have the provider review the specs in the manual!" but that just didn't leap off the page at me. Replacing the equipment is not an option. Hmmmm....if it doesn't support PRI then is caller-id crippled? I am not familiar with the Adtran - what are the benefits of that unit?
Thx, Bill

Usually much easier and cheaper to have the service provider provide a channel bank. That will give you plain old POTS lines. Why would the customer want to pay $$$ for a Partner T1 mod unless he had to?

Think it still can be done. Ask over at the T1, CSU and DSU forum.

Although I don't think that, with the Partner T1 module, you can get both DID and Caller ID... If you NEED both Caller ID and DID, cheapest is used Magix... Mike
