Grider--------If i had 3 out of 5 phones fail out of box, i would stop selling them. We sell 18d-2 versions and have never had out of box failure yet. Since time is mostly what we sell, a problem like this would eat up profit, packing and ship time both ways, bad customer feedback for us and product line.Is there a knockoff market for 18d-2's?. --------------------------- John

We haven't had any failures yet either but it does appear to be a problem based on what other people are saying. 3 out of 5 is extreme and I wonder if there is a bad lot out there. There isn't any "knockoff" market but you could theorize that once the problem became known it would be easy to identify the lot through serial numbers and pass them off to the secendary market.

On this project I was just the "connect everything up guy for a friend and fellow technician. My job was to mount it, ground it, feed it some dial tone & make 5 extensions work using existing cable or new iif needed. When the problem was discovvered, the first person suspected as the problem was me. The theory was I didn't connect something correct. This was quickly debunked when I took a problem phone and hooked direct to processor with factory jumper. Phone was still bad and then contact was made with the Avaya supplier.
