remote access/backup card

i'm working a acs r4.0 and i'm having trouble with the remote access,backup/restore card. if i do a #124 to back up the system i get "insert valid card". i can dial into the remote access and connect but i'm unable to get any info from the card. the card is a 12g2. could this be a a bad card?
