Been trying to figure out how to get caller ID to go to a modem.
Have a partner acs R3
The number shows on the phone unit, the modem and software have been tested and works with caller ID, just not through the phone system.
I tried giving the modem it's own EXT and also running off the AUX port of a phone.
Being a programmer, i pull the ID information off the lines myself but no data is sent.
Any idea if this is possible?

CID will not go to a single line device on Partner. System phones only.

Connect the modem before the Partner system directly to the CO line.

But that then involves wiring and many modems.
Are there any special modems that could act as system phone?

Is the goal to send caller ID to a modem, or to a PC? If PC, there is an external box that will connect to several CO lines (in front of KSU) and output the caller ID information via serial port. Several manufacturers used them to retro Caller ID onto older systems (Vodavi, Executone). I don't remember the manufacturer name, but if this would help, I'd be willing to look it up. Mike

My goal is to get it to a PC so i can pick it up through code then match the number through a client database.
If you can look it up, that would be great since not really sure what it is.

Check Sandman: https://www.sandman.com/callerid.html They have a couple of choices. Remember, if your customers are other businesses, getting a database match can be a challenge - since many businesses may be calling from one of several outside lines... The advent of cell phones has made it more difficult yet. Mike

Thanks for the information, really helpful.
Yeah, i know the database match could be a bit complex. But doesn't have to be perfect.
As a programmer, i can develope a lot of things with this and when a match is found, tons of information can be displayed instantly which could be quite impressive. 10 matches out of 150 calls would prove to save money.

Some programmers build in a "hot-key number association". When a caller does not match - the rep who answers the call does a hot key to associate the Caller ID info with the appropriate account. Over time, your hit rate will improve. Mike

You might also want to look into a CTI application that will work with the Partner off the SMDR jack. Problem is nobody actually knows if this application exists. I'm not sure CID info is present on the SMDR jack either but I think it is.
