just removed Centrex line from the phone company know we can't dial out I think it is because of the 9 that you have to dial for a outside line. where do I go to fix this.

Need some more info. What type of system and what do you mean by removed?

Can you press 9 to grab a line then 9 and number and it to dial out?

Again your talking in circles. Am I correct in hearing you that you can now make outside calls?

The more info you can give will greatly increase that chance of us being able to help.

Did you have Centrex on all lines, or are we dealing with only one line?

Did you have to dial 9 to get a Centrex line and then another 9 to place a call? If so, just don't dial the second 9.

Your system may also have automatic route selection (ARS) enabled which could be inserting an extra 9 for outgoing calls. If that's the case, you are going to need a technician to take that feature off. There's no way around it.

A good way to tell if your system has ARS activated is to see if you receive dial tone IMMEDIATELY after dialing 9. If there's the slightest delay, as in perhaps a half-second, then you don't have ARS. To reiterate, dial tone will barely even stop except for the time that you press the 9 button if ARS is there.

Hey B.O.B. - is Dial-A-Tech systems the ender user of this system, or is this for one of your clients?

A Legend has Auto Route Selection. They are accessed by dialing 9, and then the desired number.

The routes can be built to add or delete digits.

Your old Centrex from SBC probably required a 9 on the line, which the ARS tables added automatically, so you didn't need to dial 9-9-XXX-XXXX.

Now that they aren't Centrex, you need to go into the tables and remove the extra 9.

SBC/ATT jut started its 779 Area Code try out. Does it have anything to do with that? I haven't been keeping up with that, but I hear that you have to dial all of the digits now (10) even if before you only had to dial 7. Don't quote me on that. Just throwing it out there for ya.

Ever put a butt set on the lines at the demarc just to see what they are doing? That would tell you whether it's the system or not.

OK, in Key Mode, you're dialing direcly on the line, no ARS coming into play here. SBC screwed up the translations in their CO when they changed from Centrex.

Of course, you're going to have to do as Hal says, test from the MPOE with a butt-set to prove it to SBC.

Good Luck!!
