I can install and get working.
Maybe answer a few question I have.

Some customer refered by a computer guy friend wants to set this hunk of junk up.

I may pass on the job but I will let you help me decide if its worth it.

You can help a fellow tech and at the same time I am willing to pay you a little for your time though I am sure you are worth more.

Seems to be a Merlin Plus with no voicemail.
Should be relatively simple to help me program.

I need help evaluating what its capable of specifically and perhaps some programming help.

Thanks

Before install, plug system in wait for green light, use 8 conductor line cord or patch cable, plug into first{top} port on 10 station port card. Use display phone for easy program. Slide left center{side of phone}button towards base, touch any unlighted programable button hit *91 then dial 11. slide side button back to center.turn power off, then back on.Now touch the button you programed above, does it read itcm 11 on display? If not the internal battery is dead and the system will not hold any program, common prob. in old plus's.Is it worth install?------John

If it won't hold its programming it is not worth the trouble unless you want factory default. What exactly do you want it to do? Many times I see these things exactly that way (because it is common for the battery to fail after all those years) and the customer has no problem with it. Basic call handling, all lines on all extensions, all lines ring on all extensions (square system).
