OK, Client has a partner system with static on one phone. It is intermitten and only happens on extension 10. Below is what we've done to fix this:
1: Replaced Phone 2: Replace Station card 3: Reran all cabling 4: Replaced all jacks, base cords, etc
i am out of ideas at this point. Anyone know where to go next. This does not appear on any certain line or in any pattern.
Thanks

What kind of Partner, ACS, Partner II? Is it in a 5 slot, a 2 slot or a stand-alone?
The older partner's would get static in the processor's.

Is there any electrical device near the station or along the path that the cable takes between the processor and the station that could induce static in the line (florescent light fixture, heavy electrical machinery)?

It is a 5 slot cabinet with the R3? software. I believe it is a partnerII but could be wrong. I was thinking along the lines of maybe processor as well.
i'll get more info later today when i go to try and fix whatever he did to his PC.

I have seen the older 5 slot carriers cause problems, try replacing 5 slot carrier.

The processor is in the middle slot of the carrier. Does the processor have ports on it, or does extension 10 start on the far left module?

Before you did 1 thru 4 in your post above it would have been much simpler to just swap extension ports with another extension that you know is without noise. If the static follows then start troubleshooting the phone, etc. If not you know it's the system. Then it's time to bring a phone back to the system and plug it into the port directly.
Most static problems like this are caused by bad ports on 206 mods. Since you say you swapped mods next thing to do is look at the processor and carrier but I would take a look again to be sure your troubleshooting has been accurate because this is pretty rare.

Hal: The reason we replaced the card was because they had static on all phones. Once the card was replaced all static went away except this extension. Thanks for the input though.
Richard: No ports on the processor. Yes, extension 10 is on the far left 308 module. I believe R3.
Dexman: We had thought of that and ran a cable from the closet around the floor to the office and the static is still there. Line was run straight from station to phone with nothing inbetween and still remained.
Result: Processor is $500 and not sure what the carrier costs. Any ideas what the most likely is? Any chance of this being the voicemail module? They are using auto attendant (don't think this is it but I'm not a guru on these systems). This is a good client on the IT side of things and would like to him them out (they fired the last phone guy when he unplugged our DSL to hook up a fax machine, claimed that DSL and fax cannot be on same line even with the DSL filters.)

I'm wondering if the replacement card has a bum port.
Aside from trying another module and carrier, my thought would be to upgrade the customer to the Partner ACS platform with a brand new R6 processor and a new 5 module carrier as the Partner Plus and Partner II are older systems and, as Rich and Hal noted, on older systems ports can develop static.
The voicemail (if it is a Partner Mail VS or Partner Mail Voice Messaging) would work with the new system.

just an FYI, i have seen just as many bad ports on the acs processors as i have seen on the 206 cards. as dexman mentioned, chances are that the 206 card that you replaced it with probably has a bad port on it. get a phone and plug it directly to station 10 at the ksu, if you still get static then you have a bad card. are there any other 206 cards in the system? try swapping the bad card with one you know that the first port is good and try again. good luck
