Try plugging the "house" phone into the other port of the modem, and use the Manual (Assisted Transfer) option to dial *10. Also, try setting the baud rate to 1200.

I had tried that before, I think, but just to make sure, I did it again. I hear the other modem, click OK on WinSPM, and when I stop hearing sounds, hang up the phone (which is what I believe I am supposed to do from the message I get). I then get the "No Carrier Signal" I tried at both 1200 and 2400. Any other ideas? Tomorrow, if all goes according to plan, I will try using the CAT5 going into my office to connect to the admin port directly.

Thanks,

Have you tried to use a different port on the 012 card?

You've pretty much exhausted your options with the modem connection. Set up the Direct Connection, and you should be fine.

Did you make sure that the analog port you using is set to go off hook on intercom tone and not dial tone?

No. I have no idea how to check that. Also, can you explain why I need to set it to intercom tone?

Thanks,
Danny

It must already be set to Intercom first, because you're able to dial *10 and reach the modem. You need to be on the intercom, because the modem is inside the Magix. Your issues are negotiating the connection after the modem answers.

Thanks,
That might be your problem, you are using manual transfer. Use the "on site" tab, as long as the modem has Intercom tone, all your pc needs to dial is *10. That might make the "handshake" a little better.

just my 2 cents.

Mongo,

I was using the on site tab, dialing *10. It was not working, which is why I tried the manual transfer. Haven't had a chance to work on getting a serial connection setup yet (people keep breaking computers). If I get it to work, I will let you guys know.
