I have an old Partner R1.0 systems and a PartnerMail VS R4.1.

I have 3 CO lines coming in; one of which is an 800 #.

If someone calls my local # or my 800 #, here is what happens. No matter which number they dial both of the lines light up on my system.

My AA picks up like it should for my lines but it plays its message twice simutaniously, so my message is echoed. Its like its playing the message for both lines. If I'm on the local # when someone calls my 800# its fine.

The first thing to determine is if this is a CPE issue or a LEC issue.

If possible, after hours, at the LEC demarc, connect a single line telephone to each of the 2 lines that light up during an incoming call.

Call either the Toll Free Number or the regular POTs line and see if both telephones ring at the same time.

If they do, the LEC has a problem. If not, there is most likely a hardware or programming issue with the Partner system.

Probably because both lines are bridged somewhere and both ring at the same time. This is not a problem with your system, call your telco repair and report the problem.

Certainly not a programming issue. No way you could do that. Problem with the system? Seriously doubt it. Easy way to tell- if you ANI one line betcha you get both back.
