Another method that I use regularly is to connect the Magix to a Win XP computer that has WinSPM installed using Remote Desktop, and is accessible from your location (over the internet) by, 1) direct connection via static ip, 2) NAT to port 3389 through a firewall, 3) VPN to the network.
The computer doesn’t have to be very close to the system, since the serial adapter can utilize existing cat 5 infrastructureâ€â€i.e. Magix in wiring room, admin port to port on patch pane, then corresponding wall outlet to adapter & computer. I don’t know what the distance limitations are, but the computer I use is about 60 cable-feet away from the system. Clear as mud?
