I am trying to find out what language Avaya is programmed in? Also I am wanting to know on what kind of difficulty scale it is. I am farily fluent but a little rusty in C++ and Java. Some experence with Perl and some other scrypting languages. Any help is really appreciated.

If your talking about the programing language of their systems I don't think you will find that on a public forum.

Avaya is not "open architecture" it's proprietary.

I would say send your resume to Avaya. For damn sure they need to get rid of whoever they have writing the software for the ACS R7. :bang:
As to your question, from what little I know about this, I think you would need to be fluent in embedded systems and micro controllers and from there you would know what language to use to compile the programming. But then you don't say what Avaya product you are talking about. At any rate I doubt that you will ever find source code for any of there software.

why....what are you trying to do...reprogram a switch. Even if you could access the switch's firmware program..your on your own....Avaya doesn't us want to know how to use the Monitor feature of SPM...what does that tell you. Good luck...this is one question, if the truth is out there, you won't see it.

No what I was trying to find out is a awy to help my team set up our phone system with out having to go through one of our IT people. Who by the amount of work that he has to do is some what of a bottleneck in the system. But I did find out to day that the system does not go off of some code writen but done by a code editor. Where all this person needs to do is fill in the blanks. But we all know how this goes, I was just trying to give them a helping hand. Again thanks for the responses and input guys.

Do you mind if I ask what type Avaya system you have? Sounds like what you need or want is a in house system administrator to manage you phone system. Is this correct?

I really don't know why you would need to get into the software or firmware to do this. All systems are made to be administered and you don't have to be an IT person to do it if you have permission.
This is starting to sound suspicious. You wouldn't be trying to hack into a system would you?

Code editor...you won't find that info in this forum...Even if this group has a tier 3 software engineer from Avaya...they won't give it up..... Question I have is why is the IT tech the bottleneck...is he the administrator of the phone system...and what are you trying to do to help out??? I agree with hbiss..sounds fishy to me.. Asking questions like that....could get you bounced from this forum.
