I would like to renew this discussion, if someone's paying attention. I have a Merlin Magix system with Merlin Messaging. I have the call queue function working fine--easiest enough. However, I'm not able to figure out the delay messages. I'm not sure if I'm trying to accomplish the same things here, but I'll try to reiterate what I understand from this thread.

What I am trying to do is have three call queues. I have them currently set up as Call Groups 771, 772, and 773. I have a 10 port voice mail card, ports 7128-7137. What I understand from this thread is that I need to allocate a voice mail port for each of the delay messages, so I would have ports 7128-7135 for AA's, voice mail checking, etc, then ports 7136-7137 would be used for my delay messages.

What I don't get is how to set it up from that point forward. Why does the Merlin Messaging have "Delay Messages" if they aren't used for anything? This is what has slowed me down, I tried to figure out how this tied to the phone system and I can't seem to find clear and complete documentation on this part.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ther is no such things like Delay Message but There is Delay Announcement that you can use for any queue. You have to Program ports( 7136, 7137) as Delay Announcement ports and asign'em into separate Delay Announcement Calling Group(775) . In the Overflow set up for those Groups(771,772 & 773) asign Overflow to(775) with 7136 as Announcement 1 & 7137 as Announcement 2 then you have
to log in into VM and record Delay Announcement 1 & 2(all agants busy or still busy bla..bla..bla). Also you have to tell if you want 2nd Ann. repeate untill somebody became available.

Merlin Messaging has that feature in case you need to use it and it is not turned on by Default. Even you have 4 port License you can use ports 9,10,11 & 12 for delay Announcement.

How do you program the ports as Delay Announcement ports? Perhaps that is what I'm missing.

Troy,
You creating a Calling Group as you usually do. Type is Integrated VMI. Members are those exts that you've desided to be an Announcement ports. Log in into VM and record Delay Announcement Greetings 1 & 2. in Overflow option for (771, 772 & 773) put that calling group and make it Prompt Based Overflow and follow steps. Assign to each port of Delay Group Delay Announcement Greeting number. thats all.

Thanks for the responses. I was missing the "More" button under "Extensions>More>Grp Calling>DelayAnnce>More>" which took me to to where you set the Delay Annoucement number to match up with the DA's in the messaging.

Learning phone systems could be so much easier. The manufacturers make this crap far more difficult than it should be and there's often times no clear documentation. It took me 6 days to figure this thing out on my own with the manual and I should have been done in a day.
