I'm new with the Lucnet Partner and VM. The problem I'm having is that the (R4.01) (refurb) 1)If i shut the system down it lose all memory. 2)The exp/cabinet 206's doesn't light up and if i connect a ext. to the system it does not work. 3)I have 6 port VM card in the exp. unit and it light yellow not red like the book states and don't work. 4)If I put some of the 206's in the first cabinet it cut's off and funny sound..

the processor needs a new memory battery for the programing .
sounds like one or more bad 206s
if the exp cabinet downt come up then the VM wont either
looks like its time to bring someone in who can get it going for you .
check the installers link at the top of the page here

1. Battery in refurb 4.01 is bad, will not hold settings. 2.without a card in exp. cab. does green light show in all cards? 3.except for vmail,do all lines and ext. work in cab.1? if so exp. carrier might have prob.If all lines, exts work in cab. and you then take card from exp. and install in main cab. and phones/lines don't work on that card . Card is bad. 4. Was system working, before any work performed? -----------------John

Can you confirm this is a Partner II with a partner II expansion processor connected with an cable between the 2 cabinets .
Can you list an inventory of what you have from left to right in your cabinets.

Looks like somebody got into my pile of defective mods and sold them to you!
Seriously, you have multiple problems with defective mods, beyond what we can help with here.
This is old equipment and refurb doesn't mean much. I don't know what to suggest except to start replacing, start with the main processor and no expansion connected. When you get that to work move on the the expansion.
Is there any real reason you are using a PII to begin with?

In main cabinet 1 Slot 1-206, Slot 2 206, Slot 3 Processor, Slot 4 206, Slot 5 206 Exp cab. not working. Will have slot 1 206, Slot 2 206 Slot 3 exp. processor Slot 4 Partner Vm Slot 5 ---. How to assign VM ports The manual only went to a 4 port numbering 36,37,38,39 should I assume that a 6 port is 42, 43 without a card being in that slot. For a 6 port or what?
Is there any real reason you are using a PII to begin with?*** That was a given.

In exp processor 46-47-48-49-50-51 for 6 ports in program #505 . Make sure all other ports are not assigned.
Again is there an umbilical cable between the 2 cabinets ??
also does the expansion processor say "exp processor ?
If the answer is yes to the above Put only 1 known good 206 in ist slot of exp If that comes up test the ports on the card.
If good shut down and add another 206 If good ad the mail and see if it comes up.
Dont forget prog for mail.

Maybe b4 you go further you should address the dead battery in the main processor by either replacing it b4 you do all your programming or get a battery back up.
Theres a link above for manuals ,you should consider a book for the system and mail.
