Hi, was sent to a small buisness that has 5 lines at the demark. line 1, line 2,alarm panel (dedicated) spare and a fax line . When line one is busy and called it will switch the next incoming call to the fax line.when line 2 is called it works, but if busy it will give a busy signal and not switch to line one.also someone has installed a dsl line to line 2 at the demark. If the fax line is called and busy it will switch to line 1. I would like to have the fax line on a stand alone dedicated ,so I have installed a cat5e to a rj11 from the dmark.I would now like the lines 1 and 2 to default to each other through the 7 different phones locations, can someone tell me how they could be wired ? do I have to access each jack, open and ring out? your help would be appriciated

Call you telephone company business office and tell them that you need the hunting changed on your lines. Line 1 (give them the number) is the lead and that should roll over to line 2 (give them the number). Lines 3, 4 and 5 (again give them the numbers) are dedicated and not in the hunt.
Not clear on your phone arrangement. Seven phones with lines 1 and 2 on them? If that's the case you are going to need 7 two line phones and wire both lines to each.

Im doing some of this work because Im actually a control electrician, and I specialize in control problems....with the intergration of system and the wave of ems (energy mangement systems)that are the norm now anytime there is a tele problem it creates havic on the systems I service,of course there is a mutitude of poorly trained venders who jamb a new pos system in with the alarm system and try to mix a digital with an anolog signal.....Im called and told my ems system is in-op,I have to try to see whos system is responsible...my 5 year apprenticship did not really touch upon these systems except for how to install them and the requirements of the national electric code. Its learn as I go...I really appriciate the feedback I hope I will be able to help someone out with the systems im familier with, James
