I need to remove carrier B from a location with a two carrier EPN (EPN 5). To a location with one carrier (EPN 6). I see the 25 pair cable between them that seems easy enough and I'll have to move the 66 blocks (done done that many times). But what do I need to do in software to tell the EPN 5 it longer has that carrier B and EPN 6 that it it now has carrier B?

Command Change Cabinet 5
CABINET
CABINET DESCRIPTION
Cabinet: 5
Cabinet Layout: single-carrier-stack
Cabinet Type: expansion-portnetwork
Number of Portnetworks: 1
Survivable Remote EPN? n
Location: 1

Room: 4500 8thSt Floor: Building: PLT 16

CARRIER DESCRIPTION
Carrier Carrier Type Number

D not-used PN 05
C not-used PN 05
B port PN 05
A expansion-control PN 05
-------------------------------------------------

Here's a screen shot that I think gets me there. I guess I would change Carrier B to "not used" and then change cabinet 5 to Carrier B "port"...?

When I try to change Carrier B to not-used I get an error command "carrier has translation".

I feel like I'm writing in my diary here.....

Remove circuit packs.
Command "Change Circuit-Pack 5". Blanked out the cards. I wonder if that is all I need to do? Just disconnect the cabinet and move it? Hmmmm

To move the cabinet from port network 5 to 6 all translations need to be removed from 5B. You can add the new cabinet and circuit packs in software then change all the station and trunk ports from 05B to 06B. List stations port 05B will help you find them. List configuration carrier 05 will let you see if you missed anything.

When I type List Conf Carr 05B I get "No records match the specified query options". That's good. Am I ready to remove the cabinet. I powered it off last night just to see what would happen and got alarms on carrier A. Didn't want any trouble with Avaya (under maint) so I powered it back up.

BTW I called to tell them what I was planning and asked for a little help to make sure I was doing it right. They want #340 an hour. ..................................... $340 ... an ... hour. After I got done laughing...It's no wonder I'm looking for another company to take over the maintenance contract.

Since turning off the B carrier Avaya is getting this alarm about it. They called me. I told them not to worry about it cause I simply turned it off. They insisted upon sending out a tech to look at it. I told them nothing was broke, just powered off. Tech shows up and says, "Your carrier does not have any power." ..... "Yes, I know that." I sez.
Next day a new power supply arrives. Ooookay. Guess I'll just have a spare now. I'm thinkin when I physically disconnect the B carrier from the A carrier the alarm will stop.

Don't forget to move the TDM bus terminator. The 25 pair ribbon type cable was attached to the TDM Bus on the back of the cabinet, you will see that at the other end of this back plane a terminator, when you make take the B Carrier away you will need to put another terminator on the pins you removed the bus cable from. If you are adding the B carrier to PN6 and it only had one carrier it would have had a bus terminator at both ends of the TDM bus, you should be able to use this to terminate the bus on 05A.
