Hi,
Have an office with a straight T1 wink/wink...they want caller ID. Carrier says they can provide a "work around".
*ANI*(dins #)*
Does anyone have any experience with this and weather or not we can get this to work on a Definity G3 R9
Thanks Joe

I don't know much about Definity but Trunk card with caller ID capability should take care of it. ANI should be set up in trunks COS I guess. Mitel has this option in COS. I don't think that Definity wouldn't keeping in mind that Definity is a Central Office type of switch.

If I were you I would get them to go PRI...sure will save you a bunch of headaches, I doubt if it will work in current configuration.

PRI has more flexability and should be priced (these days) identically to the straight T1.
dins? Sounds like you're talking to a Cisco guy.
I guess you could arrange to have these guys implement it on a trial basis. The understanding would be that you don't pay for squat if it doesn't work.
Now if the guy means DNIS, then you're out of luck. DNIS on a wink-start T1 works just like DID (where the digits are repeated once the trunk is seized) and tends to be for inbound toll-free service only.

The pricing they have is an unlimited package that is unavailable on a PRI...we wanted a PRI but this was a mess crossing over from a VOIP setup. Call quality was awful and the only way they would keep the pricing the same was to move them over to a straight T. Anyway...long story short the *ANI*DNIS* setting "worked"...shows the incoming number but no name. It was explained to them that if they want those feature that they would need to go PRI but at a cost. Thanks everyone...

Sorry, I missed part of this thread. Can you tell me exactly why the client/customer wants ANI/DNIS?
I may be able to tell you a way to do this on the G3 with inband signalling. I need to know more about how you are specifically configured.
Are they just using it to route the inbounds to a VDN?
thx Jim
