I'm new to this forum but love what you guys are doing here. Merlin Magix can be so frustrating for the novice! I have a Merlin Magix R4 system configured as such: S1-412TDL, S2-412TDL, S3-016ETR, S4-Merlin Messaging. There are 5 CO's, 1 music-on-hold, 10 TDL stations (includes 2 DLC'S w/2 Night Service Groups) and 5 tip/ring stations. The system operates in key mode.
I have a few issues with this system:
(1) I place a call to CO-1, let it ring but hangup before it covers to Merlin Messaging. If I immediately redial the number, it rings once, the system answers with a brief modem tone then promptly disconnects. This happens consistently under these circumstances. I tried doing the same with the line disconnected from the Magix and had no such problem. If I wait a few seconds before redialing, the call is handled appropriately. Anyone have any ideas?
(2) The red warning light keeps glowing on the processor (system status, slot 00 R-ON) - it's been on since I initially programmed the system. The system works well (except problem 1 above) - I just want to clear the warning LED. I used to know how to clear it in SPM in some mystery area but I totally can't remember anymore.
(3) In SPM, system status, slot 02, it reads R-OFF Y-ON G-OFF. The only thing connected to that 412TDL card is music-on-hold. I don't know what the Y-ON represents but I'd like to figure it out and clear the warning. It came on after I programmed CO Line 808 for music-on-hold and reprogrammed the system for two DLC's (which required a restart).
(4) I have a user who wants to be able to "barge-in" on calls once they go to Merlin Messaging. Is this possible or are those calls irretrievable once covered to voicemail?
Apologies for being so wordy...THANKS in advance for any help you guys can offer!

It looks like you have a lot of issues that may require someone to do more than answer them here on this forum.
The answer to (4) is:
What is the Release of your Merlin Messaging?
Messaging R4.0 and Magix R4.0 supported a feature called "CALL SCREENING".
Quite handy I must say, especially if you can't get to the phone right away to answer it.
RULE NUMBER 2, "THINKIN' WON'T GET IT, YOU GOTTA KNOW!" RULE NUMBER 3, if you need TIER-3 SUPPORT on a LEGEND or MAGIX, go to http://home.comcast.net/~merlinman -

For #2. Program 44XX Drop button on your Consol. Go to Maintenance - System - Error logs - Press Drop button as many times as you need to have an empty error screen.
For #3 you can try in Maintenance go to slot and do reset and restor and check on status. YellowOn(Y-ON). Have you connected MOH with MOH Adapter?
#1 never happend to me.

If that the case why wouldn't it pick up every time but only on the first quick redial?

I agree with ComdialJim on #1.
The way a alarm system answers the call is you dial it let it ring. Hang up and immediatley redial the line. Then it will answer and sound similar to a fax machine.
I have had several customers with a high call volume complain about this. For some reason most alarm companys use line 1 on the phone system to connect the alarm.
Fix is to move the alarm to a different line. Be careful to wire it so that the alarm can take control of the line in an emergency. Then call the monitoring company and/or the installation company to advise them of what line it is connected on. They will need this to verify alarms and to do upgrades to the alarm system.
Brian.

Wow - thanks for all of the replies!
merlinman: I will investigate the call screening - sounds like the answer.
vad60: For #2, I already have a 44xx drop button programmed on the main console, so I'll try your solution - can't this somehow be done in SPM as well? For #3, I believe I already went to Maintenence and reset/restore the slot - yes I connected the MOH via the Lucent music coupler - but to CO port 8 - I left CO's 6 and 7 available for future lines - I'm wondering is this why the system yellow light (Y-ON) is on?
ComdialJim and ALLN1: Sometimes we can't see what's staring us right in the face! I believe you guys are correct about the alarm system. When I removed the line from the phone system I tested it at the demark before the alarm system. I will retest it on Friday coming out of the RJ31X!
merlinman: I hope the prognosis is less dire now - I swear the system runs well other than the warning lights - nobody knows about them but me, but I'm definitely not cool with having them on!
