Ok we have a avaya phone system in our company but recently when i tried to setup a new user to a new extension on the administratice software i get message like user license exceeded which is strange i have at least 7 open unassigned ports and worst if i go to check unassigned ports it tell me which are open and unused i dont think i need to contact my sales rep. I think its a config issue . And the digital card supports 24 ports i have used like 16 ports why is this message appearing when i am trying to assign a port.

thanks for help

Welcome to the forum welcome

I would think the installing company that sold and installed your system would be the first place to start.

Is this an Avaya communicaion mananger? S8XX0 maybe? If so there is something called RTU (Right To Use). Its a license that is on the server, that in this case gives you X number of stations. If you run the command 'disp sys cust' and post the first page, I can tell you if you need to buy more RTU's.

Another avenue to check is your capacity. You may have ports available but you may not have space left on your system to add another user.

oh thanks for everyones reply but i figured it out already

Thanks Rhonda your guess is the answer found out myself it was the capacity was over the limit of how many ports can be added

went over the specified limit

obviously this can be expanded how would i check the version of avaya phone system ? manager or hardware of the equipment itself ?

But thanks everyone in general

'disp cap' last page will show you your software version and load.

I would believe you will need an upgrade. I would contact your account agent with Avaya or an authorized Avaya business partner to assist you. If you do not have a contact, I'd be glad to share my BP with you. PM me if you'd like contact information.
