I am currently limping along with a Lucent phone system using Partner Mail VS Rel. 4.
Partner 34d, using extension 10 is the main phone and all other extensions are using Partner 18d. Small system with (6) extensions and (3) lines in use.
About a week ago extension 10 started to not drop lines when finshed with a call and is also always shown to be in use. It happened over a weekend and I have no clue what could have caused it. It's almost like the do not disturb button is on but it isn't. The receptionsist has to hit a button other than a line or that line will not be dropped by that extension. Right now I am looking at my extension and the receptionist (ext. 10) phone is lit up as well as line 4 (non-existent line). Everything else works without a problem and the receptionist can access her email and transfer calls.
I have tried reseting the entire system by unplugging (per the manual) it but extension 10 is still a mess.
Any suggestions? I hope I described the issue well enough, I will post more info if needed.

It sounds like the hookswitch is bad. The phone is not seeing the handset get hung up. You can send it in and get it fixed or look for a replacement phone.

try swapping it with a known good phone - the dss key won't function properly because they are different models but if it is a problem with the 34d causeing this it should clear.

Tried that as well - No Luck. I also tried completely clearing the entire system by unplugging and removing the batteries - also no luck.
I appreciate the responses - I'm baffled.

at this point I would be looking at the cabling from the line cord back to the ACS

If you place one of the 18D's in place of the 34D at Ext. 10 and leave it there for a reasonable amount of time I'll bet the problem will follow to the location where the 34D goes. My reasoning is the hook switch on the 34D. I know it has been ruled out already but the time frame between the original post and the time that was ruled out isn't enough.
Do we have loop start lines via copper or T-1 service and lines trimmed out of a channel bank?

I would take a phone and go directly to phone system and plug that pfone into the card to eliminate wiring. If problem still I would change line cord. i had ones the same problem. was a line cord. If problem stays-change card.
