I have a Partner II VS mail system with 4 extensions. Ext 10 is the receptionist.
When customer calls in, prompt menu would say press 1 to place an order, 2 for hours and location, 3 for company directory.
I assigned selector Code 1 to ext 10, 2 to ext 52 etc.
However, when an outside call comes in, press 1 would get a message " invalid entry" and would keep on repeating the prompt. Ext 10 would not ring at all.
What have I done wrong?
Please help.

Why don't you just tell them "dial zero or stay on the line for our receptionist".
I know that doesn't answer your question but that is how it is normally done, not dial 1.
What release Mail VS do you have?

If log into VM and listen to the manue what selector code 1 is assigned to? direct ext. transfer? transfer to ext? or Transfer to MB? Should be Transfer to ext.
