I have a Merlin Legend With a 7.0 R14 Processor W/Expansion Carrier. My problem is we recently had a bad lightning storm. Since then i have replaced the expansion carrier 3 016ETR cards and a powersupply. The thing i am having trouble with is on certain ETR extensions they will lose power momentairly and then come back on, and continue to do so. But if i move that phone to a unused extension it does not do this. Can someone please shed some light on this situation.

Check for suspect inhouse wiring by pluging a known good telephone directly into each suspect ETR jack and see if the power blips go away.

It is only certain extensions that are toding this. The thing that is bothering me is that it did it before the change and still doing it after the change. I changed the expansion carrier and the 016ETR cards that we thought had problems and even after being changed and a new powersupply they still power blink.

The other option, as noted elsewhere, would be to change out the processor to see if that make a difference.

I was thinking along the lines of suspect cables, between the punchdown blocks and the control box.

Contact your local Avaya Business Partner to come out and take a look.
It would save you money in the long run instead of replaceing parts on trial and error.
Also could you please complete your profile?

Interrupts on the Magix aren't any different than the interrupts that us old PC guys had to deal with back in the ISA days.

The "Invalid Slot Interrupt" (error 0010) is fairly inane in that it is only reporting that SOME undertermined module in the switch is responsible for generating the error. Good information, but not precise.

However, the "Slot Stream Cnt Exceeded" for Slot #3 (03/00) tells us that the board is Slot #3 is the culprit. My guess is that's one of the suspect ETR modules.

To troubeshoot your problem in detail, I'd need to know very specifically what you mean by "move that phone to a unused extension it does not do this". Would that be on the same board or not? Are we reusing the same wiring and simply moving an RJ head?

Consider plugging these phones into the ports DIRECTLY (as Dexman suggested), especially after a violent lightening storm. Horizontal wiring could be damaged, and we would want to elimate it from the equation.

What i mean by Moving to another port is i go to the phone system with the phone in hand and plug directly into the phone system itself to another extension. And no the card in slot 3 is a MLX Card In the first carrier. The ETR Cards are in teh second carrier
