The short version of a rather long story is that I've put together a Frankenstein MAP5 for a desperate customer by using their original box, plus some spare parts.
The unit comes up great, except that it continues to interfere with my programming by scrolling "SPM: Can't open comm port, errno = 6", followed by "Open /dev/tty00 failed".
All that means is that the Megaport board (a serial/ethernet combo board used for remote access) is defined incorrectly. The drivers are there, but they're looking for this board at Base I/O address 280h, instead of 180h.
There's some kind of BIOS configurator called the "Lucent Remote Maintenance Board BIOS Extended Code 1.13" utility, but it requires a password. Anybody know what the password is? Is this even where I should be looking to set the board's memory and base I/O address?
I believe the Megaport board STREAMS drivers are a revision 2.24a, which are supposed to eliminate the need to manually configure this board...but it ain't happening.

Got it! I cheated by disabling the process that looks for the Megaport remote access board.
I created a Unixware 2.1.3 boot disk, booted the MAP5 with it, then mounted hard disc. Root level access is needed, however that process isn't shared here. With root privilege, go to /etc/conf.d/ and do a grep for "SPM". Edit both files (primary and shadow file) and "comment out" the line beginning with SPM. This is a process that automatically respawns, so the kill command simply won't do it.
This leaves the user without remote access, which is actually kinda cool. Any changes to voicemail MUST be done from the local console.
