Good day!
I have here a small office edition 4T+4A+8DS
my problem is that I cannot access the system thru IP office manager. I can access it using the hyper terminal but after some test it displays unknown characters at the end.
can you guys help me how I can access the configuration for SOE.

I am currently using IP Office manager 4.0

thanks...

If you can't access it via Manager, then your computer is not on the same subnet as the IP Office. If you do not know what the IP address is for the SOE then you will need to pull that information from the start up information on the DTE port.

If the unit is used and not in operation, your best bet would be to default it via the DTE port.

I double check the IP address of the SOE and it is on default IP. even if I change the subnet on my computer it is still the same problem.
on hyper terminal, it will boot up but on the end it will display an unknown characters. I have been trying to get access on the system up till now.
this system is fresh from the box.
for reference, this is what I get from hyper terminal:

Well. If you change the IP of your PC to be 192.168.42.2 You should be able to get in.

I did have a unit that wouldnt let me in with Manager, but we could ping it and it was online working fine. DTE the box, ONLY IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.........

C0A82A01 = 192.168.42.1

EDIT BELOW

I re-read your post. Where did you get this box? It is on a load of IPO I have not seen IN A LONGGGGGGGG TIME!. 2.0(16)

As Mongo said, your SOE is at 192.168.42.1 but since you said in your original post you are running Manager 4.0, you will need to upgrade the firmware before it will let you read a configuration.

Manager 4.0 will open configs as old as 2.1 I believe but not 2.0(16)

If this is for testing, feel free to play with it and read up on how to do the upgrades at support.avaya.com, but if this is for a customer and you don't know what you are doing, you should bring in someone who does.

thanks for the reply mates, I already got access to my unit. it just give me some headaches on the upgrades of the box. It didn't upgrade directly to 3.2 and it always stop when on 80% of transferring files to the box. so what I did is upgrade the SOE to 2.1 before upgrading to 3.2

this does the trick for me.

I would feel more comfortable if you could flesh out some more of your personal profile, dhanzboy.

For example, where is KSA? My guess is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Please clarify.

Also, the handle "dhanzboy" appears on several hacker sites...each with recent registrations in 2007. Of course, it's totally possible that you and other "dhanzboy" posts have no relation.

It looks like you've gotten some great information from the techs here. Please reciprocate by giving us some good information about yourself.

@dagwoodsystems
sorry if I haven't been able to update my profile here.

OFF TOPIC:
my handle as "dhanzboy" and the "dhanzboy" you search in the internet is the same person. my job before is a computer technician and when I came here in riyadh, the company I work with put me as a technician for PBX systems.
to tell you the truth, I really don't know anything on PBX, thats why I decided to join this forum to gain knowledge.

Riyadh is in Saudi Arabia...so I guessed correctly. Thank you for the profile update.

Can I ask why you are registered with hackr.org? That stuff makes me nervous.

And while you may not know much about PBXs yet, it appears that you spend a lot of time on forums dealing with GSM, mobile IM, application unlocking and mobile phone unlocking sites. You are also a Bitcomet user. As a "computer technician", you seem to have a great deal of interest with the inner workings of mobile phones and it's software.

What exactly is it that you do for a living?

To be fair, I also see a reference to Ubuntu (which is VERY cool) and some fiber optic stuff. And apparently you are a member of a free tech support forum for PCs. You certainly have my respect there.

Welcome to the forum. Please forgive me for my caution.
