With a Partner ACS R7 that had been running 3 CO lines, we added a fourth line, then after hours I used the PC Administration program to remotely connect to the 509 processor and try to set up line 4 on the various extensions. As far as I know, if I were programming from Sta 10, I would run Prg 301 (Line Assignment), assign line 4 to a button, and I'd be done. With PC Administration, I used Button Programming for each extension, selected the Phone Model type for that extension, and assigned line 4 to the default button location. Saved the file, then used the Administration menu to upload to internal memory and then restore to working memory.
This got us line 4 functionality on 3 phones, but not on another 2. The only odd thing I've noticed so far is that in the saved file (the one to be uploaded), the Phone Model selection is saved. But after the upload and restore, if I then Retrieve System Information and have a look at current settings, Phone Model is Standard Phone for ALL stations except Station 10 (even for stations for which line 4 is working).
Anyone know what's going on with this?

Who knows. Why are you wasting your time with PC administration anyway? Just go there and use #399 to copy one extension that has the fourth line to the others. Five seconds and you are done. No down time and no BS.

Well, the remote programming software will report all ports that don't have phones connected at the time it pulls the translations as "Standard Phones", even if you have programmed them as a specific type of phone.
Remember that you can upload the file to either the Internal memory, or the Card, and you can Restore from either as well. Make sure you are restoring from the correct place.
And I agree with Hal, just phone in, have someone go into programming with you, and #399 from a working phone to the others. You don't even have to keep entering #399, just #399-10-11-12-13-14-etc.....

It sounds like the direct approach is the way to go, though I'd like to see PC Administration work right after going to the trouble of setting it up. (And yes, I was careful about uploading to/restoring from internal memory.)
#399 would apply to one of the problem phones, which is a model match for a working phone.
But the other problem phone is the only model of its kind there. Since I did most of the initial setup via PC Administration, I did not get very familiar with the direct Ext 10/11 programming commands. #301 Line Assignment is the basic requirement here, right? (The setup is mostly default behavior, except for System Speed Dialing.) And there is no program for assigning Phone Model?

The PC Administration mystery may be solved. I did not notice this initially because of the way I was navigating into the program, but it seems that the last 4 system phone extensions are now plugged into ports 15-18 rather than 11-14! (And the only reason a couple of the extensions beyond Ext 10 had been working was due to some leftover initial programming.) The only thing I can figure out is that when the phone company installer did his thing, he made some attempt to complete the wiring. Or else someone in the office fiddled with the system at that time and didn't put things back right.

There's your answer. PC Administration is just a crutch often used by those who don't want to learn how to really administer the system.

You probably don't know that #399 copies only the line assignments and ringing (and some other things that don't apply to you) to any target phone regardless of type. It doesn't copy programmed buttons unlike the PC Administration "copy".
