My first trip into the Avaya forum. I have a customer with a partner system. It's probably at least a R4. Nothing too old. I beleive they are just using the small VM that plugs into the processor. The AA picks up on about the 4th ring and they want to extend it at least a few more rings. It's a real busy place (restaraunt) and they could use the extra time to get the phone. We had another tech. go out and he told them 4 rings was the max and that they would need a VS mail to do more than 4 rings. It got me thinking but isn't the ringing controlled VIA the processor and not the mail? Would it matter having a VS mail, minus the extra features and mailboxes if we're talking about just ringing? I thouhgt in my mind that the ring can be set to at least 6 either way. Thanks.

Yes, it is controlled by the processor. Unfortunately your tech is most likely right and you are wrong about the release. Earlier ACSs (R2 and earlier) didn't offer the flexibility the later releases do with VMS Hunt Delay. Your only choice is immediate or delayed. Delayed is about four rings.
So make sure of the release (Feature 59) and if it is an R2 or R1.1 that's about all you are going to do. If it's an R3 and up fire your tech and listen to Dagwood.

Like Hibiss said. It's an R4 plus. 0-4 rings. / ASC 3.0 or later allowed for 0-9 rings on Vm hunt delay.

If it's a other than mentioned above you need to Add a night service button to allow the phones to ring longer and change the VM Hunt delay. Always, Day, Night.

Grim, you'll probably get a much faster response if you start a new post. I can see how this thread got you thinking about related matters, but we want to stay on topic and help out benb.

-Hal He's been known to shove his foot in his mouth before thinking about it but I'll give him a break this time. I'm going to call the company today and find out what revision the system is. Thanks to all for your help. Another reason why this IS the best tech site on the net.

Update, it's a release 1.10 and I think the owner is not going to pay for a newer processor and the time to reprogram the new one just for 2 more rings. Thanks again, saved me a trip out there.
