I have a custmorer with a Partner R7 and 4 308ec's with a small pc card VM. The problem is when you call and get the AA and enter ext 50, it says that it is invalid. I can call it internally and have checked the selctor codes for "5" as a Direct extension transfer. I also thried to set Selector code 5 to directly transfer to ext 50. when I do this, the system tells me its invalid. Any ideas? Thanks

PC small, might be pre ACS R7 software. SO it might not recognize extensions in the 50's.
I think I have 1 here I can bench test....

Much appreciated. I know the VM is not as new as the processor.

Nothing to do with the processor. Both the R6 and R7 will go to extension 57. The PVM R3 will only go to extension 49 with an ACS R2 and later. R1.1 highest is 41.

I just had the same problem come about today.
We have a small motel that has a R.6 with (2)308's and (2)012's. With the 12 box PVM R.3. Can't dial anything above ext.49 from AA.
Here is a copy and paste from the PMV R.3 manual that says it should work: General Information ■The factory settings are listed in the “Range of Extensions for Direct Extension Transfer†column. ■The Selector Code is the first digit dialed by the caller in response to the menu prompts. ■In Direct Extension Transfer, Selector Codes 1-5 and 7 represent the first digit for a range of extensions. These Selector Codes let callers dial extension numbers directly. ■In Selector Code Transfer, Selector Codes 1-9 represent a specific extension, Group Calling Extension (if available), or Hunt Group extension to which the caller will be transferred. Selector Code Transfer lets callers dial a single digit to reach a single extension or group, such as the VP of Sales at extension 37 or the order processing operators assigned to Hunt Group extension 774. ■The Description and Selector Code number from this form will be used to complete the Automated Attendant Prompt (Form 2).

Mike, you must have a different manual than I do. That information is on page 47 in mine. No matter.
I will agree that "In Direct Extension Transfer, Selector Codes 1-5 and 7 represent the first digit for a range of extensions. These Selector Codes let callers dial extension numbers directly." says it does support extensions 50 and above.
If you look at the table above that it only goes to selector code 4, x40-49. I don't have a loaded system to check this with (I believe you just did that, Mike. You have physical extensions to at least 50?) but note that the last extension that you can assign a mailbox to is 49- I did confirm that. That kinda seems to be supported by information on page 21-
You can reassign each mailbox to any extension (10 through 41 for Partner ACS, or 10 through 49 for all other Partner systems supported).
I have no experience with this problem because I have never used that small VM with a large system, but it looks like what you found and my confirming that there are no mailboxes above 49 pretty much confirms that it won't transfer above 49 regardless of what the manual seems to say.

I talked to Jenne tech support this afternoon they bench tested one and got the same results I did. They are going to pass it on to an Avaya engineer. He did agree that according to the PC card mail documentation that it should work. We'll see.

Ext 49 is the limit with the small or large PC cards. Their are two manuals for the voicemail PC card, one version 1998 and one 2000, the 1998 leaves out a lot of detail, the 2000 update mentions the Extension 49 limit. If Ext 50 needs voicemail or direct transfer, then that user will have to be reassigned to a lower extension number. I have verified it with an ACS 7 system.
