I think the RFI (predictive ringing) is a GSM by-product. Verizon and AllTel are either CDMA or TDMA so maybe not an issue for them.
I placed my phone SIX feet away from my radio this morning and it still created a noise that was picked up by the radio on my desk.
As an electronics company (Peavey) we have one of those fancy devices that measures electromagnetic activity created by our components. Couldn't tell much as the phone was shielded in the device and therefore would not receive a signal. I didn't have time to sit and watch for the random RF-burst.

You're correct richard. The problem is by far most obvious on phones that use GSM ie. Cingular & Nextel. If this bothers you, use a TDMA phone ie. Verizon, Alltel, Sprint.

Verizon service not available here Alltel and Sprint, coverage not so good Cingular is by far the best coverage for our area and I feel confident that our users can most anywhere (national and international) and be able to use their phone. We are on a good pooled minute plan. Plus, and this is always important, we have a local account rep who takes very good care of us. Last night, while playing my guitar, I noticed the cursed sound comeing thru my amp. I appreciate everyones thoughts. I've learned alot from your posts and hate to sound like a patient who sez to his Dr, "It hurts when I do this". And the Dr sez , "Don't do that"... Moving my phone away from everything it will interfer with would be impractical. I'll continue to apply pressure to Cingular. MAYBE they will try to fix it down the road. Thing is, if we don't complain it will not change. Richard

I don't believe its your carrier its your more likely the handset. Chasing the carrier to fix a non-issue for them is a waiste of good B____ time.

Solution, go to: https://www.cellamericas.com/store/home.php?cat=250 They have a little gizmo that you can put one place, plug into your home phone system and answer your calls without the cell phone being close. I don't make any money referring them, they didn't even answer my email about becoming a dealer but you can buy it on the web. This was the cheapest place I found, even Amazon was more money.
