We just added line 8 for client. They have voice mail, but prgrammed with 206 to go directly to one extension and then to that extensions voice mail. Issue is that it flashs about 3 times on users set before it rings 3x and then finally to vm. Have from x10 made sure it is set for immediate ring. Have rebooted system. Where else could this delayed ring be set? thanks! FYI have set all other extension to NOT ring except this user, as he requested.

Are you positive you are working with the correct extension? If you dial the extension number in question will the phone ring?

You may want to see if the system is in day or night service.Sometimes direct ring to vmail programmers set this up on night service and ring at extensions on day sevice.

I would suggest that you set 206 to 2-Not Assigned, then use 208 to assign the line to the covering extension, making sure that the line appears at that extension, with ringing, and Auto VMS Cover.

What Tommy says. Also use VMS Cover Rings to specify the mumber of rings before going to VM. Program a DND button if you want it to go immediately.

Thanks all. I mis- wrote orignally. I had used 208 to have calls directly to his station and 206 was left unassigned. Finally swapped his extension number with another on the system that was available and client was happy. Guess it was a half way blown -Fd -up port in some way.

I don't think so. Screwed up programming is more like it. Sometimes the only way to fix problems caused by people who have no business playing with programming is to default the system and start from scratch. You can go nuts trying to figure out the odd ball results of settings that should not be used together. It's quicker and less of a headache to just dump it and get rid of whatever is causing the problem.
This is the prime reason we never give the customer programming information beyond user level. It would be like a kid banging on a piano. The kid thinks it's cool but nothing good can come of it.
