Hello all, Thinking of getting an Avaya Merlin Magix and as wondering if it use's 1 pair, 2 pair, or 4 pair wireing?

Depends.
There are multiple types of sets available for the Magix, depending on what kind of extension cards you have in the system.
If you use an MLX or ETR card, the sets use two pair. If you use the newer 4400 series on a TDL card, it's one pair.

This is true for MLX UNLESS you use a DSS Field or any other external device connected to the AUX Jack, then you will need all 4 pair.
