Customer has Merlin Legend R7. He replaced the Intuity Audix with Merlin Messaging R4. He also has Unified Messaging set up and it's working fine for him to listen to voice mail messages in Outlook on his PC. ALTHOUGH, after he listens to the message, the message light on his phone doesn't go out. What do you think?

The most common cause of this problem is that the Extensions being used by the Messaging have not been set to Rotary Enable.

Isn't this the same situation as with the Partner Messaging? Doesn't he need Microsoft Exchange?

The phone message light goes on when a message is left. It goes out when he pulls the message by phone. Rotary enable is on.

Now I have to chime in with Hal.
What is the Email Server?

I have been working with IPO soo much, it escapes me. BUT, is Merlin Messaging true IMS???
Meaning, is it SUPPOSED to delete the message in the mailbox, if you delete the email????
I cant remember? I want to say that it is just an emailed wav, not true Unified Messaging....might be wrong....

IMS = Indianapolis Motor Speedway? If so, I'm game.
Yessir, the "reply to delete" function IS alive and well with Merlin Messaging. MerMSG can be set up as a true Unified Messaging application. But as Hal and Jack pointed out, the actual behavior has everything to do with the use of Microsoft Exchange (my favorite...meh) AND the VERSION of Microsoft Exchange. Support for UM with Merlin Messaging stopped some time ago, so you may be in trouble.
BTW, there are other ways of lighting a MWL other than UM. I can't remember what they call it in Magix language, but the Definity/AUDIX term would be "Leave Word Calling". Functionally, LWC allows you to ignite the MWL and leave a "text message" to call back rather than the tradition of recording a voicemail message. Any chance that a similar feature is preventing you from extinguishing the MWL?
