I have a cust with an Inter-Tel 5000 with 3 years left on the lease, so they are not anxious to change out the system until then. This cust's new parent company is an Avaya shop and wants to see what can be done to network the Inter-Tel to an Avaya 8700 and/or an IPO.
Has anybody done this before? Any suggestions?

Can the Inter-Tel create H.323 trunks? It might be tricky as to how each system sees the digits from the other ones system, but it would be fun trying.
But, no, I have never done nor have I heard of anyone doing it.

Why not try using a tie line? You could also get a IP gateway. Either way its not like the two switches are going to act line they are DCS. You basically will get dial by extension by getting the two to talk to each other.
What are you looking for? Just extension dialing?
