Does it make any difference if you call it an analog line or an analog port/extension? I have a customer with an IP Office system with analog ports. They are trying to connect a Valcom door box system to it. I just had a call from their telecom/IT guy and he said the IP Office vendor wanted to know whether it was an extension or a line. In my experience you could program it as either when it enters the Avaya system. It has very similar properties. Line voltage and ring voltage. I would think the only difference would be how the Office system handles it. Steve

Yes, there are analog line ports then there are analog extension ports on the IPO.

If I am reading your post correctly the IP Office vendor is asking the person installing the Valcom what they want.
A line port or a extension port.

Fuzzyone45,
You can't program Analog extension to be an Analog line neither you can program Analog line to become an extension o IPOffice. They all have a specific Module for it and Valcom requires an CO line port to be connected and programmed as a Door phone.

Thanks Vad. That's what I thought. That is what they are going to install. Steve

You can use either trunk or analog extension. The important question is, what did they purchase? If they have a door phone controller, or just a door phone....

Either will work, but what are equipment are they trying to make work????
