First a little history: Last summer we were experiencing dropped calls from our Magix. About a year before that we were having the same problem after adding a card that added analog lines (for faxes and modems). We started swapping cards, power supplies, even a whole cabinet with no relief. Finally, because is was happening in July and August, we guessed that it was getting too hot in the phone room. I added some fans under the switch to get some air flowing over it. That seemed to take care of the problems until just recently. The complaints started coming in that calls were being dropped in mid-coversation. Sometimes customers calling in would get dropped halfway into listening to our auto-attendant greeting. (We have an old Octel voice mail system). Problem might go away for a week, then we'd see a half dozen dropped calls within a 10 minute span. During one of these periods where several calls dropped, we called our provider (Cox) and they said they were seeing a bunch of errors coming from our switch. We replaced the T1 (100 DS1) card and Cox tested. The errors were gone. About a week later, the first 12 ports on one of our 024 TDL cards quit. We replaced that and everything worked fine for about a week. Now the dropped calls are back. We were going to try a new processor card next. I use a local guy who used to work for Lucent, then Expanets, now on his own when Expanets cut back. He's the real expert on this stuff, but I thought I'd try to see if anyone here had some input on this. Thanks.

The Magix will keep a log of alarms & errors. Can you check to see if anything is being reported?

Is the log that can be accessed via Winspm via "View", then "Log Viewer"? If so, the last error was dated July 5, 08.

No, the Error Log your looking for is under Maintenance, then System or Slot. Depending on which errors you would like to look at.
There are some folks on this board that may be willing to dial in to your system and verify the errors for you (for a fee). Maybe Merlinman will stop by this post and offer some help. He helped me about 8 month's ago with a similar issue. He was very, very helpful.

OK. I'm seeing a lot of 7001 PRI SVC AUDIT TIMEOUT and 7002 PRI SVC STATE INCONSISTENT with today's date. Is there a way to dump these all out?

I have had all of these Incedents regarding a customer with 2 locations ( New Jersey and Baltimore)..Low volume..Cutoff calls...Scratchy calls..Dropped calls...we have replaced telephones,Circuitry and alike..We called the carrier and had the DB levels changed and The magix worked for a while then the same problem..We finally replaced the T1 carrier..No Problems since we got rid of Them...everything works fine.. Just a Thought..Good luck

Is the T1 carrier taking hits, bouncing, both or none of the above?

Replaced processor card last night. Haven't seen any problems today yet. Service is coming in over fiber. We haven't gotten any complaints on static or volume, just the dropped calls. I'll check with the carrier to see what they're logs say.

It had been a while since I dumped out an error log. I had to figure out again how to do it. Below is the log. Today (02/17) I haven't had any complaints of dropped calls yet, but have had a complaint of incoming callers getting a busy or incoming calls ringing and ringing without getting picked up. (The autoattendant or voice mail should grab any unanswered calls).

At least one dropped call this morning (02/18) I called Cox and emailed them the error log since it seems to indicate the problem is with their service. Would this be a good assumption?
