I know when you have a magix processor in a legend back plain (clam shell), you don't need the operator to be a digital phone. But if you are using a magix back plain, do you need a digital phone? Can I just use magix 408 MLX modules with MLX phones, or does the operator need to be a digital phone, so a tdl module will be needed? I want to save the customer money by using their old MLX phones, but upgrading them from legend to magix. Thanks for your help.

I suppose it could be done (although I've never tried it); as long as the MLX board is inserted into the slot directly to the right of the processor and telephone is connected to the very first port.

Dexman is right however you have a 2 Operators position on first card (port 1 and 4) you can use either one.

A MLX-28, MLX-20L, 4424D+, or 4424LD can be use as Operator telephones, however if you wish to allow the client (or yourself) to do programming, you must use a MLX-20L or 4424LD in the programming port, by default the first operator position.
If you don't have one of these two sets, programming can only be done locally by using the admin port and WinSPM.

The existing Legend processor can be upgraded to Magix R4V7 if it is a CKE4 or CKE5. In that case, there is no need to replace the chassis or anything else.

But if for some reason you do decide to go with the clamshell solution, rest assured that there are no requirements for digital stations...not even an operator. You may keep all the MLX sets as is.
