Has anyone ever worked with both Tadiran and Avaya? Most people would say go Avaya when choosing a phone system and they are great systems, but sometimes a little pricey? I’ve heard people refer to Tadiran as rock solid systems that are made to last 10+ years. If anyone has any feedback on Tadiran good or bad I would appreciate a response.

Try finding a Tadiran tech vs Avaya tech.

I think this should be your answer.

The only tadiran Dealer here in OK that I know of is about 1.5 hrs away from Oklahoma City.

I would go with Avaya. The access to a tech on any system would be far superior to a tech on a tadiran system.

Hears a previous discussion that might help. You might also do your own search.

The point is---rather than focus on the system manufacturer, focus on the installing/servicing company.

As a few techs I know would state....I can not recommend a platform, only a technician.

With ANY system, Cisco, Avaya Tadiran, Hosted...ANY SYSTEM, it is only going to be as good as the tech that programs it.

A Partner system programmed by Touch Tone Tommy, could compete with a Magix system programmed by me.

I would concur with the previous posts.

Years ago we were an Avaya BP, so I've worked on Avaya products in my time.
We have been a Tadiran dealer for probably five or six years now.
In my opinion, it all depends on your needs, your budget, and the relationship you will establish with a local service company.

I work on both systems every day in a national accounts maintenance facility, maintaining several hundred (500+) Tadirans and a couple thousand Avaya systems, so I can speak from experience.

Tadiran is a tough one to learn and set up initially, but runs strong once installed. The MACs on a Tadiran are a little more difficult because of interaction between features, but a "one-tech one-location" scenario allows learning to take place and works ok. Hardware is stout, takes abuse well. Phones are strong and easily refurbed. The number of system capabilities is huge, more than even Avaya, but tricky to implement. Techs are few, as has been said.

Avaya is easy to setup & maintain. MACs are simple, troubleshooting pretty straight forward with lots of built-in diagnostics. System parts are plentiful, as are techs. Buy a new system from Avaya and they lock you into a relationship with a business partner. Buy a Tad and you rely on documentation and tech support.

I'd liken the two to another common comparison: Windows and Linux. Avaya is Windows: you pay for the software and are forced to deal with limitations on altering the system to accomodate the environment. For 90% of the installs, this is fine. Then you deal with features that exist but don't work unless you upgrade. Tadiran is Linux: you pay for the hardware and it is as configurable as you care to alter system parameters, none of which are hidden on a Tadiran. For a special application, such as an analog station gateway for a campus or interconnection with devices (modems, faxes, paging, etc), the Tadiran can't be beat. VOIP is killer on Avaya, though, it can't be touched.

So, save money and work harder: Tadiran. Spend more and work less: Avaya.

Clear as mud? LOL

I would agree with 392's assesment of the Tadiran. I have been working on the Tadiran since I got out of the military in 96.... The systems Tadiran has in terms of flexibility can't be beat. Some features that are basic on the Tadiran have to be purchased on other systems. And now Tadiran has their Soft Switch which is making huge waves on it's versatility. the Tadiran IPX systems are not as easy to learn, but once you learn it, you can make that baby sing.
