Hello to all.

I have two IP Office 500 4.2(17) systems that are identical. 8 POTS, 24 Digital, 32 VCM with Embedded VM. Pro License and Basic Networking License(4 channels)on both.

These two offices are 50 miles apart and they want to tie them together over the internet only for extension to extension dialing. One site has a 6Meg cable connection, the other site is a T1. Different ISP at each end.

I have identical routers at both ends that can have a gateway to gateway VPN running. I have setup that VPN and it seems to work for data. One network is 192.168.0.1, the other is 192.168.1.1.

I have Public static IP's available to use on each end if necessary to avoid the VPN issue.

I have followed all the procedures in the manauls trying to setup the SCN network between the two, but I can't get it to work.

I have tried different IP route settings, along with different settings on the IP line, but nothing seems to work.

Do I have all the necessary licenses? Some sites talk about an SCN license, but I can't seem to find an Avaya part number for that.

I am better off setting up both sides with Public static IP's and routing them that way?

Some have suggested using short codes to dial across the network and avoid SCN altogether.

Can anyone give me a step by step guide on what to do here?

Many thanks to all who respond.

202960 "IPO LIC IP500 VCE NTWK START4 LIC:DS

The Voice Networking Base license allows unlimited Q.Sig calls but restricts IP trunks to a maximum of 4 outbound calls.
• Starting with release 4.0.10, IP500 no longer requires IPO LIC IP500 IPO STD UPG TO PRO (202959) License."

If you dont have that, you cant build the trunks

Edit to take out pricing of license.

Did you set up short codes?
Can you ping both ipoffices from any of the networks?
If you send your cfgs I can take a look.

If you have voice networking ticked in the IP trunk, you dont need short codes for anything but groups. If not ticked, you will need short codes for everything.
