Here is a new one. My customer has a Partner II 4.1 with a 206E and a 400EC. They use a Heat machine that creates a harsh static on their Euro I 18 button display phone and their Euro I 18 button non-display telephone but this noise does not occur on the customer's 2 Euro I 6 button non-displays. I have switched out phones at the same jacks, I have switched handsets and cords and I have used RF filters. Nothing changes or helps. Why?

Partner II is a old verison of Partner. It could be the beginning of the end of that processor. Have you changed ports? The type of set should not matter. Perhaps 2 bad sets?

There is a recent post and many older ones relating to this kind of interference. The recommendation is to first try shielded cable. As for the reason only the 18 button phones are affected, could be a lot of things. The length of the drop, where it's run or just the design of the phone itself. It's not uncommon to only have certain phones affected and the rest OK.

Thanks for the information. The processor is running fine, I did change ports, the cable lengths had no effect. I did talk to the customer about shielded cable. I'am going with the design of the phone.

Let me ask you this- if you swap one of the 18 buttons with a 6 button does the problem go away?

Sorry for the delay. When swapped the 6 buttons work fine. The 18's don't.

Then you know it's the design of the 18D. You might try the newer series 2 18Ds.
