I have a Merlin Magix 4.0 System with 6 POTS lines at 801, 802, 803, 804, 805 & 806.

The operator console is 2700.

I need a strategy to have ext 2741... which is on the 2nd carrier, cover the operator during certain times. I would rather not change her extention or renumber the boards.

I created a Covered Call group to include those 6 lines. I specified her ext in this group.

The problem here is that if she is talking to the 1st call... or has it on hold, she can't hear the 2nd or 3rd line ring.

Next, I added group 70 (those lines) as personal lines on her phone set... it appears as one button.

Same problem. If she is on the 1st call, or places it on hold, she cant hear the subsequent calls.

I know that I can add each line to a button, but I would rather not take up six buttons... but will as a last resort.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

If 2741 is a 4424 (D+ or LD+), you could make it an actual operator set, which would then be able to have the individual line appearances. But it would either ring always, or not ring always, not just on and off when the main operator is away. (It would be moved to an actual Operator port, and extension renumbered)

Do you use Night Service? Do you have an Auto Attendant? You could send calls to the Auto Attendant on a delayed basis, using the Weekly Business Schedule to control the message that plays, but then use Night Service to make 2741 receive calls when 2700 is away.

You could simply forward 2700 to 2741 - you may need to add more SA buttons to receive the calls.
