HI! There!! Has anybody had a problem of Lucent Tel 18d Was lighting up L1 on its own , so i programmed for line perference to intercom instead of L1, which next day it did it on its own, is this just a bad hook switch?? can i replace hook switch like i do with toshiba?? I did swap to other port and it did the same. Problem 2 :is odd i went onto the fax port t/r and in monitor mode on butt set i get a relay click every couple of seconds?? So switched to another port and programed it for fax management, and no relay clicking is present on new port Ext. ?? This is R7 not sure what version. Any ideas?? Gratuis Amego's :bang:

Problem #1- replace the phone.
Problem #2- why would you even think to listen to the port in monitor mode? It clicks? So what. You shouldn't be using fax management anyway.

If this is Euro II 18-D's, there was a bad batch of switch hooks several years ago.

The clicking on the voice pair is the message waiting light is lit for that extension. Feature 10-XX will turn it off. Why is it on? Maybe someone made a mailbox with the Fax extension's number, and there is a message there, or maybe someone dialed Feature 09-XX.

Actually the old Lucent 18D is better in regards to the hookswitch because they use an opto switch. At some point they cheaped out and changed to an arm that reaches around and pushes a button on the keypad membrane. That's when problems began. I believe the 34D still uses the opto switch because it's often used by receptionists.
To answer your question directly, you can tell if there is a hookswitch problem by playing with it and seeing how it responds. Usually you won't even have to play with it- just lift or replace the handset and watch how it responds.
If you are using refurb that's your problem right there. I've had phones that like to go off hook by themselves.
Fax management isn't going to tell you anything unless you use a fax machine designed to work with the Partner fax management. I'm told they used to exist sometime long ago in the days of thermal paper faxes. So what you are hearing may have something to do with that fax management.

Thanks Hal. I used the fax managent on 1 other site and if the fax runs out ofpaper , is unplugged dosen't receive , the led for the fax ext. flashes red. I think it goes green when in use.
