I am hoping the gurus out there in the phone world might have some suggestions.

I have a Magix system setup and was connecting an MLX 20L set to it for the console, first port, first card.

I have two of these MLX sets, both of them worked briefly and then stopped working.

The first appears to not be getting any data at all, no light, no display, however I can hear myself in the handset.

The second set is even weirder. When I plug the set in by itself I get the display but none of the buttons or lights work or respond. If I plug a DSS into it, the phone works but none of the button lights work.

It is not the port, because, I put a MLX 28D in the same port and it works great.

Any thoughts??? Should these two sets be sent off for repair, if so where and any idea on the cost??

Thanks for your thougs.

Jim

Do both 20L's exhibit the same symptoms no matter which port you connect them to on the MLX module?

Take the MLX phones right to the controller, plug them directly into the ports and see what happens.

Hey Dex,

I am currently working with phones plugged directly into the controller ports.

I have tried several cables from the phone to the controller and several ports. Also, tried on two different MLX modules.

Only one of the phones does the weird thing with the DSS, the other is basically dead (though it appears to be getting some power as I can hear myself in the handset of that phone).

Hi Jim,

My feeling is that the phones are bad because you've tried different ports on different modules without any luck while, at the same time, you can connect MLX-28D's to the same ports and they function properly.

MLX phones are widely available. Click on the "Equipment" link above and see what Sundance has.

Definitely the sets... it's not uncommon for all the buttons (including the dial) to die on an MLX set.
