Hello All,
I'm not really a phone system expert, but as part of my current IT job they're asking me to do a little programming on an Avaya Definity. I spoke to our phone company and they're telling me our toll free numbers are sent through on the PRI just like any other DID.... What I'm trying to do is get these toll free's to ring at specific extensions within the office. I have a basic understanding of VDN, VRT, and Vector. I've copied the settings (with new numbers) for another toll free number that is already working correctly, but I'm having no luck. As of right now, the numbers just ring the operator. Could anyone point me in the right direction. Maybe a FAQ or Doc about DID/line programming on an Avaya.
I know this is a nub question, but they won't let me hire an expert and I've spent a ton of time trying to figure this out through google searches with no luck.
Thanks again!

Does your toll free numbers piggy back (or points ) to your main # or are they their DID

I was told they are like DIDs, and are not set to point to a number by the phone company, but rather controlled by the phone system.

Did you ask your toll-free people what they are doing ?
Did you check your hunt group for that DID

Hardware Platform? Definity / CM software version?
Toll free numbers point at your incoming trunk-group. The provider associates these with DNIS digits that are sent to your switch. With these DNIS digits, you can program your switch to route the calls. Your provider can tell you what the DNIS digits are for each number pointed at your incoming trunk-group.

Thanks for the help. It turns out that the DNIS digits they are sending are actually different from what they should be. Or atleast, the DNIS that the system is seeing is different. I should be able to fix it from here...
