We are new to Avaya and a current customer of ours is asking us to install an S8300 for them. Can anyone give me any basic info on this?
Thanks

If I remember correctly Digitel D you guys just became an Avaya BP recently. The CM isn't a system that I would recommend trying to learning on the fly. I would recommend getting certified on the CM before trying to install one. That's my opinion.

As a new BP I doubt you would be allowed to sell and install a CM unless you had the certifications or someone working for you did.

-Hal Exactly. If this is purchased through the grey market (as I assume, because the customer is asking you to install it) that is the only way you could set it up. Avaya will void the warranty of any CM box that someone installs with out certification.

Yes, we just recently became a partner. Thanks for your help. I think they deinstalled this from another site and now are relocating it. We may get a certified tech to help with this while someone in our company gets certified.

s8300 is a plug in circuit pack for a media-gateway. It's actually a linux server that will run CM. It will need to be configured, programmed from scratch and will most likely need an Avaya RFA license and authentication file installed before it will work.
s8300 comes in many flavors. Each supports different CM software versions, which also support different types of media-gateways s8300 s8300B s8300C s8300D
cm software will range from multivantage r011 to Communication Manager release 2 to release 5.2.1
