I've seen MANY Partner installs where the 'business partner' didn't install a backup pc card. And if they did, it was NOT configured for auto backup nor was the initial config ever saved once programmed. Sad but true.
Nothing wrong with that. First, the customer didn't want to spend the $$$ for a RAC card, especially on a small basic system. I can reprogram from scratch in a few minutes for half what the card costs. Then I'm not a big fan of auto backup, I never enable it. I will backup the translation upon initial installation and whenever I make changes. That way a known good configuration will always be available. The problem with auto backup is that if the customer screws around with the programming and the system has problems that translation will overwrite the good one leaving you with an emergency call.

You're kidding, right?!?
Our company policy is that EVERY Partner ACS included the RAC card, it is never made an option, rather a feature.
The autobackup won't overwrite the manual backup, and I can't tell you how many times the manual one was so out of date that it was irrelevant. (Yes, I backup to the Internal and PC Card EVERY time I'm on site making changes) Checking the date on the backup files to find the most recent one before committing to the restore is the key.

All I can say is nice work if you can get it.
As for the backups, I'm not really interested in what the customer did to the system. I try to discourage them from doing any programming at all except for button programming- and I haven't seen one yet who could get that right. If I'm on site I'll do a manual backup, same for if I am off site and walk them through something. So basically with my customers if any changes need to be made it's by me so I should never see an out of date file.
