Does the legend r6.0 have a group listening feature or does Avaya call it something different. I saw service observe and this is not what the customer wants. Thanks in advance for any help.

I for one am not sure what this would be, and you are right, whatever it is, Avaya calls it something else.

Could you provide a description of what it does?

Yeah, I was kind of confused myself as to what the OP is trying to accomplish.

That's what I thought they were looking for.

The old MERLIN II did that (ATL SETS), but not the newest ones.

what the customer wants is to talk on the handset and have people in the room listen to the call over the speaker.
I hope this is clear enough now.
on the comdial DXP the feature is called group listen.

Just as an FYI, the Nortel BCM's and Norstar's also call it Group Listen. Not sure what Avaya calls it but I couldn't imagine that they don't have that feature.

You need 6.1 and above to support it.

[Service Observing]
In Release 6.1 and later systems, this feature allows an observer at an MLX
telephone to observe calls at extensions within a Service Observing group.
Observing means that the observer can hear all parties on the call but cannot talk
to them.
NOTE:
Service Observing may be subject to federal, state, or local laws, rules, or
regulations or require the consent of one or both of the call parties. You
must check in your jurisdiction and comply with all applicable laws, rules,
and regulations before using this feature. Failure to comply may result in
severe penalties.
A Service Observing group can consist of any number of extensions on the local
system. It can even include another Service Observer.

its nothing like silent Observing Russ,

It has been on the tie/nitsuko and now NEC products for a long time ,

here s a description from the DSX manual
Quote
Use Group Listen to talk to an important client or customer and have your co-workers listen in on the meeting.

Group Listen permits a keyset user to talk on the handset and have their caller’s voice broadcast over the telephone speaker. This lets the keyset user’s co-workers listen to the conversation. Group Listen turns off the keyset’s Handsfree microphone so the caller does not hear the co-worker’s voices during a Group Listen. When a keyset user sets up Group Listen, they hear their caller’s voice over the telephone speaker as well as their handset.
