Recently upgraded a 406 V2 from 3.2 to 5.0 with very little trouble till this came up.
We have some extensions that we want to restrict outside dialing to local area codes, and speific lines. This is done in ARS and works fine, they dial 9 for an outside line and get a secondary dial tone.
The other unrestricted dialing extensions (still restricted to using a speific line) also dial 9 for the outside line but that [9] comes from the users short codes that override the system shortcodes.
Problem is since 4.0 the ARS provides secondary dial tone and since these extensions bypass the ARS we have no dial tones.
What I need to do is have both restricted and unrestricted extensions be able to dial 9 for an outside line (must be a speific line to the type of extension)and receive a secondary dial tone.
I can see how to do this if I make another code (like 8) for 1 type of extension and it add to the ARS. I would leave the other extensions at dial 9 for an outside line. Problem is everyone has been dialing 9 for so long they will not like the change to 8.
I assume there is a way to do this but I am missing it, must come up in a multi tennant building.
So the question (finaly) is there a way for 2 diffrent extension type, using their own outgoing lines and restriction tables to dial 9 for an outside line and receive secondary dial tone. I know you can dial without the secondary tone but it's a user issue (aint it always)

Make additional ARS routes, the default one is 50:Main, so your next one will be 51:Whatever (the 51 is automatically assigned).
Then in the user's shortcodes, have 9 dial N on 51:Whatever
A hint would be to use User Rights to assign the short codes, have one for restricted and another for unrestricted

Thanks Tommy
The restricted extensions already go to ARS 51, I will create an ARS 52 directed to the proper outgoing line group for the un-restricted extensions.
Question about short codes, I think I read someware that the brackets [9} are no longer required in short codes as they only turned on secondary dial tone in pre 4.0 and do nothing now. Is this correct?
Will be back on site Tuesday to try it out.

Yes, the brackets are no longer used.

Thanks Guys
Created a new ARS table and reworked the old one. Pointed the extensions to the proper ARS table via user shortcode and all is well.
As a side benifit I was able to get rid of all the user short codes that previously provided the restrictions. Now I only have to go to the proper ARS table if I want to change restrictions instead of having to modify each users short codes.
