Is there a way to default these cards or to remove any existing backups from previous systems?

Plug it into a defaulted system, set automatic backup to the card, set the date to Jan 1, set the time to 1:59am. Wait for 2 minutes, do a manual backup to the card.
You now have 2 files, both of a blank system. That's about the best you can do.
Or plug it into your current system and do the same to get two images of that.

That's what I thought. I didn't think there was any way other than putting two blank images of a defaulted system. Thanks for the comfirmation!
