Hi Folks,

My company has two locations in Fond du Lac, WI. Our Corporate office on Brooke street has a Definity G3si v11 with an Intuity voice mail. Also, we have a smaller location called our "Electronics Plant" which has a G3si v11 for approximately 60 users. These plants communicate via extensions and have a shared voicemail at Brooke Street where I am. We communicate over a voice point-to-point T-1. There is not other fiber between us.

My company has asked if we leased the building across the street from us to put 30 engineers in, what would it take. Is there a small Avaya Switch for less than 50 users? I would probably put in another point-to-point T-1 or Ethernet to connect us. I would like to be able to program that third location across the street from my building via ASA if possible.

Any suggestions?

IP Office is the only SMB system Avaya sells now.

If you go with a P-T-P (and refurb'ed equipment is ok), the Magix would probably work.

With your knowledge of Definity I would suggest a refurbed one. It's cheap enough. I even have some cards you could have real cheap.

Rhonda...sounds like your probably using DCS to tie the two switches together now...I would think about a small Prologix for the new location, cheap and would do the trick for you easy enough..refirb unit, couple TN 2224's and you got 48 digital stations who could ask for more...

I'm kind of inclined to agree with Hitech...stick with what you know. Besides, the Definity (refurbed, of course) should be pretty inexpensive. And, since you know that configuration works, as you already have a second location running sharing common VM, setup will be a lot less stressful.

I sure you have heard this before,.... but why not run some copper between your G3 and the new location, if it is only across the street?

If you can't do copper due to access restrictions, a microwave link with OPX extensions or tie lines into the new building may work.

One more question,

Which would work the best, the Merlin Magix or a ProLogix? With a max of 50 users, I want to be able to program this location from my main building. If I set up a point to point T-1 for connection does one system do/compare better then the other?
