Hi everyone,

I work at a small hotel in the Caribbean as IT and we have Mitel SX200 with MDR for posting accounting and our Mitel Dataset 2103 is not working frown all are interfaced with our hotel PMS (Fidelio Opera).

Problem: when I call a room number, the name which is displayed is that of a guest which stayed here a couple of years ago.
The first time I called Mitel tech support, they told me that our Mitel dataset 2103 is dead because the power led indicator was flashing.
I currently have 3 Dataset 2103, including a new one I got last week, and when I start them up, they each seem to work in the test mode.
But even the new one's power led indicator flashes.

Connector Dataset:
I have dial tone for the digital line
I have data from Interface but nothing more.
I have seen a lot topics that say that I need to reprogram the Mitel Dataset 2103?

If that's the case, how do I do this?

Please help me with this problem frown

Thanks a lot

Stéphane

Is the interface program open on the PMS screen?

The power indicator will flash until it sees a connection to the PBX Digital port. Has it been busied out? Have you checked it in maintenance?
Are you sure that you are still connected to the secondary pair of wires? There should not be any dial tone on the dataset port.

Thanks for your reply

Yes the interface program is open on the screen and when i plug the serial port to my computer i have data!
For the digital port i have checked with a phone and i have a tone but i haven't plugged the phone behind the dataset to check.
ok i need to use pins 3/6 of the line jack? correct?
I will check this quickly

Many thanks

Pins 3&6 at the dataset end run the dataset while 4&5 can go to a phone through the jacks on the dataset. When you plug the serial port to your computer what kind of data do you get?

A flashing power light means the dataset is not communicating with the PBX (as if the line cord was unplugged). Remember that tip and ring from the Mitel DNI port goes into the dataset on the yellow/black wires, not the red/green. The red/green wires are used as a convenient way to have an optional phone close to your dataset.

As stated above, if you have dial tone on the port you are not using a digital port, so it won't work until you connect the dataset to a digital port.

In the digital line you have just 1 pair connected in the pabx!
Correct?

I would not be at all concerned about the phone. Your goal should be to get the power light to stay solid. That will happen once the digital circuit, programmed in form 12 as a dataset, is connected to the blak/yellow pair feeding into the dataset.
