If you do em you should to em on both sides. If the remote end has fxs, then you should use fxo on your side, if you plan to ring dial-tone down to the single lines connected to the fxs ports.
What are you trying to achieve, ext to ext, or trunk to ext configuration. Please elaborate what type of connectivity and functionality you are trying to acomplish.
